Pointless Nonsense

sense8Sense8 is a new Netflix series from the Wachowskis, starring Sayeed from Lost, Darryl Hannah, and that Korean girl that’s been in several Wachowskis projects in a row. It’s a science fiction story about drugs, too many separate sets of characters, and not revealing anything at all about what’s going on until I get frustrated and quit watching. 30 minutes in, and I think we’ve spent like 3 minutes each with 10 sets of characters in completely different locations. There was some opening montage where some other people take drugs and then some bad guy is around and there’s a montage of stuff, but… it took so long introducing everyone that I stopped caring and quit. It’s ambitious, I guess, but it took too long to get to whatever was going to happen.

That was basically my initial reaction to The Wire… And well I didn’t watch it until a year later after a multitude of positive reviews, so maybe just wait and see if this gets enough positive reviews to tolerate a brutal overload of characters right off the bat.
