Pointless Nonsense

vikingsI decided to try out the History channel’s Vikings on the grounds that I’d heard some good things, Katheryn Winnick is hot, and I wanted to take a break from Farscape (about which I am still trying to come up with an opinion). Katheryn Winnick’s character was easily the most interesting, which may have just been because she is hot (though she looks really different, I think because her eyebrows are blonde) and I was really not caring about anything else going on, but she hardly gets any screen time at all, and most of her scenes are the kinds of things you see in these kinds of stories over and over again (“our son isn’t old enough to go raiding or whatever!”, some skeevy-looking guys try to rape her because her husband’s gone and it turns out she’s some kind of badass). Based on the pilot, I don’t see the appeal of the series at all.
