Pointless Nonsense

Some comics, roughly best to words:

Half Past Danger is a terrific title, isn’t it? And the cover with a burning nazi flag, dinosaur skull, femme fatale, and a ninja in camouflage? Based on the first issue, it’s basically Indiana Jones with dinosaurs. Which is a great concept. halfpastdanger
Daredevil vs Punisher: Means and Ends was written by David Lapham, whose Stray Bullets I still think really highly of but who now basically makes gross-out comics (Crossed and stuff). But this series was a bit closer to Stray Bullets. It’s not the greatest thing ever, and has a slightly predictable end, but the conflict between the two heroes was really well done. dd-pun-meansandends
Daredevil/Spider-Man: Unusual Suspects has a really confusing B-story where Black Widow hits on Foggy that doesn’t make any sense. But it has a nice interplay between Spider-Man and Daredevil, so it was still kind of enjoyable. ddspidey
Ten Grand is a J. Michael Straczynski urban fantasy thing drawn by Ben Templesmith. I can’t really decide what to make of it just yet, but I’m at least interested enough to read on. tengrand
Jupiter’s Legacy is a collaboration between Mark Millar and Frank Quitely, which got people really excited. But I didn’t find it to be a good first issue at all. I don’t know who the main characters are or what the series will be about, just that it’s vaguely about superheroes and celebrity. jupiters-legacy
The Movement wants to be like an Occupy Wall Street thing with superheroes. Which is an idea that I really like. And I like Gail Simone as a writer. But the execution of the first issue was pretty off. Most of it is devoted to a character that seems weirdly irrelevant. I intend to read on purely out of affinity for the writer in the hopes that it will turn around. movement-1
