Pointless Nonsense

Looper is a pretty damn good movie, which is good since I’d gone to the effort to learn almost nothing about it since I’d heard the director of Brick was doing a scifi/action/time travel movie (I also just learned he directed “Fly,” my personal favorite Breaking Bad episode). It’s also the kind of original idea that I desperately hope becomes a big success financially, so that maybe we’ll get a few less adaptations of video games and cartoons and toys and board games and a few more new concepts.

Unfortunately, I didn’t love it, because some of the time travel stuff doesn’t work quite right. They make a point of saying that thinking too hard about time travel will accomplish nothing but giving you a headache, but I can’t not do it. Without spoiling anything, there are a few paradoxes and one very basic element that only makes sense if the person in charge is a moron or intentionally trying to cause a catastrophe.
