Pointless Nonsense

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a good, dark, violent murder mystery, with a very compelling lead character (and another lead character that’s quite boring, but necessary to move the plot forward). I’m actually curious if Daniel Craig’s character is even in the sequels, because I can’t imagine anyone would miss him very much, but I’m not curious enough to actually look (I’d consider it a spoiler, except that it’s a detail that would certainly be spoiled in the marketing for future movies).

Rooney Mara was excellent, but I find the list on imdb of actresses they considered to be pretty hilarious. If Scarlett Johansson tried to play that part, this movie would have been laughably bad. Same with Kristen Stewart. Really, anyone with an existing “movie star” persona would be an almost impossible sell, because even someone like Anne Hathaway, who I generally like, would seem like Anne Hathaway with crazy hair and piercings pretending to be all damaged.
