Pointless Nonsense

NTSF:SD:SUV:: (which stands for National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle with two extra colons at the end) is the newest live action Adult Swim show, spoofing TV procedurals and 24. It’s in the Adult Swim style with rapid fire jokes that are sometimes really funny and sometimes make no sense, but overall it was quite entertaining. It might be helped by the fact that I’ve watched more procedurals than anyone really ought to. But, really, they had me right off the bat with the disclaimer that “This program contains partial nudity, partial violence, and whole drug use.”

Paul Scheer (from The League and Human Giant, among other things) plays the Jack Bauer/David Caruso hybrid lead character, Kate Mulgrew is the eyepatched boss, Rebecca Romijn is the CSI/lab tech person, and there are some other vaguely familiar people rounding out the cast. It looks like they have some impressive guest stars, with JK Simmons in the pilot, and commercials showing a lot of the Party Down cast, Rob Riggle, Moon Bloodgood and others.
