Pointless Nonsense

Sunshine Cleaning is a movie that twice (at least) Geebs has for some reason assumed I had already seen. I have no idea why. It does feature two things I tend to enjoy: attractive actresses and morbid subject matter. But I was not sure they would combine together very well.

This is the first movie I’ve seen Emily Blunt in since she became even mildly famous (she was in Charlie Wilson’s War but I don’t remember her from it). She was fine as an actress but not super attractive. Amy Adams looked considerably better (and had a couple scenes in not much clothing, which was nice).

It was an odd movie, though. Adams and Blunt play sisters who are both kind of screwing up their lives, and go into the business of cleaning up gory crime scenes. It was not as gross as I’d thought, nor as morbid, and it seemed to generally be a pretty generic indie type movie. There’s a kid and a complicated relationship and an un-cool city for the setting and a traumatic backstory and all sorts of other stuff you’d expect. No hipster soundtrack though, maybe because it was too costly. I’m incredibly neutral on the whole movie.
